Even though we have a lot going on this month, the biggest thing looming around our home right now is football talk. If you are an avid sports fan you are aware SEC football started Thursday night. This morning my precious Husband set an alarm (on a Saturday morning) just so that he could watch College Game Day! I guess you can say the start of football season is like the start of Christmas season to those of us in the south. For those readers who do not know, I was born in Louisiana and raised as an Alabama girl in rural Choctaw County. However, I do not think I would classify as a born and bred Tide fan to most. I love my LSU Tigers and I adore wearing purple and gold, but I do pull out the Bama gear on occasion to support my Husband and his second love (I am totally his first! :) ). As Tony and I embrace the new month I can only imagine what change will be like around our home. He and I have never lived with each other during a heated football season and as most fans already know it should be a pretty good competition between LSU and Bama all year. I am sure there will be a little more smack talk and mumbling behind each other's back, but to each his or her own, right? I am sure at the end of the day we will lay to rest our team talk and just be Husband and Wife.... just maybe.
We plan to spend the weekend home games tailgating on the quad at The University of Alabama which I guiltily will admit that I am actually looking forward to. Tony and a few friends started this tradition a few years ago and it continues today even after the guys have graduated and moved on. Since I was always in Baton Rouge during the football season I never truly took part in the setting up-grilling-tailgating shindig in the Alabama atmosphere. I am looking forward to spending time on the quad with friends and family partaking in the fun and fellowship and experiencing an atmosphere different than that of Baton Rouge. I believe it will be interesting and different from LSU tailgating to a certain degree. It will be sort of a change for me to embrace so many Tide fans in one place but I guess if you are a fellow UA tailgater we will see y’all on the quad!
For those sweet, dedicated readers today- I hope you and your family have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend full of great food and fellowship! We are off to get watch a little SEC football and get everything we need for Monday before the Alabama game tonight. As always- until next time, geaux tigers and happy blogging!
