Info Post
Hi friends!

I know many of you who read are still in college. Whether you are a student yourself, a mother returning to the classroom, have a child starting college in the fall, or know someone in college- this post is one that you will certainly want to bookmark, email, or pass along. No matter what year you are in your college progression or what you are in majoring in, we all have to have those pesky textbooks for our classes. Unfortunately, those textbooks are not cheap. Today, I have just the solution to share with you!

As most of you know, I am trying to complete my degree. I started my college career at a small four year university, Southeastern Louisiana in Hammond, Louisiana back in 2009. After my first semester I transferred to LSU in Baton Rouge. Currently, I am in the middle of my second semester at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. If you are like me, you may have made the mistake first semester of freshman year purchasing your textbooks from the campus bookstore brand.spanking.new. I am talking, I spent almost $800 in textbooks. I think I literally puked in my mouth paying for those suckers. Then, when buy-back rolled around I did not get hardly anything in return. I am not sure what I was thinking at the time! However, looking back I do remember that I had absolutely no guidance whatsoever. With three college transfers under my belt in four years, I have finally figured out that renting used textbooks outside of your local campus bookstore is the way to go! If anything, I hope sharing this bit of information with you all saves you (or someone you know) major green.

Campus Book Rentals offers massive perks to all the college goers out there!

Here's the skinny:
  • Save 40-90% off of bookstore prices
  • Free shipping both ways
  • Can highlight in the textbooks
  • Flexible renting periods
  • Donate to Operation Smile with each textbook rented
    • Campus Book Rentals works with Operation Smile to donating over 1,000 life saving cleft lip surgeries this year to children in need.

Most importantly,Campus Book Rentals recently started a new program called Rent Back. Rent Back saves you even more money, plain and simple. I am not sure how many of you have actually ever rented your textbooks. I know that I started renting Sophomore year and will never go back to buying a textbook again. Basically with RentBack, my understanding is that it is a new initiative that allows students to rent the textbooks they own to other students, which is awesome because it makes them 2-4 times more money compared to what they would make through buyback options when selling books back at the end of the semester. Isn't that awesome?!

In the past, I have rented and bought new and used textbooks. When the buy back option is offered on campus, you are likely to get maybe 15% of the book back, which is nothing compared to what you paid for the book. These days I rent rent rent only USED if at all possible. Typically as soon as I know my class schedule I hop on over to the the Campus Book Rentals website, search for all the books I need for my classes, and drop them into my shopping basket. Upon check out, I use my personal student account to save the items in case I feel the need to purchase a particular rental at any point during the semester. Should I need to purchase the used rental item, it is still cheaper than going to the campus bookstore and buying the book straight off the shelf. Also, one of the nicest things that I love about renting online is the fact that they will pay shipping! Meaning, you are paid to ship your books back once you are finished with the semester and they will ship the books to you for free at the beginning of the semester. Such a sweet deal! You not only save money, but time and hassle!

One more time: Do you wanna see how it works?

I hope this post will help you as much as renting as helped my bank account during the last few semesters. Should you have any questions, please feel free to email me or comment below. I definitely will get back with you and help you get in contact with the right rental representatives.
