Welcome to the third post in Friday Favorites! Thank you for stopping by again today! I hope you all enjoy. If you have something that you would like for me to feature, let me know! Today's post is completely random, but I think that is part of all the fun in this series. I hope you all have had a wonderful week and are looking forward to an awesome weekend!
Before we get started, I wanted to share that I have linked up with Kelly's Korner blog for the Christmas Tour of Homes. If you have a little free time I would encourage you to check out her blog and all of the gorgeous home decor from fellow bloggers who have linked up, too. THIS POST contains all of our Christmas deocr. (This is my first link up party to try-- I am hoping to do it correctly!)
1. Kardashian Kolor Holiday Collection Nail Polish
I am obsessed with all Kardashian Kolor! I love all of these colors, especially the gold, purple and red. I did not buy the entire pack as advertised, but I found all the colors sold separately at Ulta. It was the only store with the entire collection. CVS and Walgreen's had a few colors but not all colors.
Currently, I am waearing the purple. It actually looks brown on, which I love! This collection is such fun, festive holiday colors that stay on well with limited coats. This brand is a bit pricey, but I do not have to use a second coat most times. I hardly ever apply a clear coat, as well. This brand is well worth the price ($8 a bottle) and fun "kolors".
Has anyone tried Kroma, the new make-up line? Let me know what you think! I have very sensitive skin and I would love to try it! I do not use one set make-up carrier. I have multiple different brands of make-up depending upon what it is and how is applies or stays on throughout the day.
2. Mary Kathryn
Miss Priss is growing up! I mentioned last Friday that my little sister was attending her first dance and going on her first date, all in the same night. Well, Mary Kathryn is not really so "little" anymore! MK and her "boy" friend attended the Winter Formal at their middle school and then had dinner at a local restaurant in town. I think they looked amazing! He is one handsome fella and she is a gorgeous lady! Oh, how time flies!
I love watching her grow up. It is interesting, exciting, and always gives me something to look forward to since Mary Kathryn is so unique. Christmas will definitely be full of some quality sister time! I cannot wait!
3. Oreo Balls
I am in the middle of making Oreo balls, pralines, and buck eyes right now!! :) Can you say, "YUM!" The baking flu hit our house and I plan to be in the kicthen pretty much all day until Tony gets home. It is my "happy place" and I would not want to be anywhere else right now. I have never made buckeyes or pralines. Cross your fingers that they will turn out well and I will not have a terrible mess on my hands as the outcome.
I thought I would share the recipe for the Oreo balls since they are so easy to make and sinfully delicious. If you have not tried an Oreo ball know that you are missing out!
Ingredients:
- Oreos
- Cream Cheese (8 oz.)
-White Chocolate Bark
-Toppings of choice
Directions:
- Wash your hands first. Second, get your oreos and dump them into either the blender or a giant bowl.
- Blend/crush your oreos until it becomes a nice powder.
- Okay once its nice and powdery you add 1 stick of cream cheese again you blend/mix in until it forms a paste.
- Your hands are going to get gross now. Use a spoon or your fingers to get a small amount of the paste then roll it into a ball and put on a pan. You can make the balls as big or small as you want. I normally make them bite size since the mix is so sweet.
- Put them in the freezer for about 30 minutes to harden.
- Melt your white chocolate. You want to make sure its specifically made for melting. Put some in a smaller bowl and melt. About 15 - 30 seconds you can always remelt! Don't burn the chocolate! (I normally burn the chocolate every time! I am going to try melting the chocolate a little at a time instead of all at once.)
- Now that you have your balls frozen and you chocolate ready to go you start covering them in white chocolate. I use a soon for a lack of a better way to do this. you might need to melt more chocolate and that's fine. Also work quickly, as the chocolate will harden fast.
- Your done covering your oreo balls in chocolate. Now you can touch them up and decorate them. Put sprinkles on them, magic cracking shell, you can even buy regular chocolate just to put in a bag and make cute little swirls and zig-zags on them. Sometimes I even add extra oreo crumbs.
- Now put them back into the freeze let them sit for about 15 - 30 minutes take them out and your done!
I am in love with everything Christmas right now. I wish Christmas lasted longer than a month. I think it is going to be depressing taking all our decor down after the holidays. Last night Tony and I were discussing how we could make Christmas last a little longer once the holidays are over. I am not sure if our plan will work, but I think we negotiated well enough to try it out!
I found this new candle scent, Cinnamon Berry, at Ulta last Sunday. It is wonderful! I had a $5 coupon from the Sunday paper and this candle turned out to be a great find for under $10. Normally, this candle is $14-16 depending on size.
Tony Harper has decided to give coffee and warm drinks a shot. Since he has been sick he has wanted anything warm to drink to soothe his throat. I found this red, manly mug at Starbucks just for him! He seems to like it because he has asked for hot chocolate four nights in a row. Must be doing something right?! They were also selling the bottom white mug and I grabbed one. Now, he has his mug and I have a mug with Christmas ornaments!
5. Puppy Love
It is ridiculous how excited I am to visit with these sweet chi babies!! I cannot wait to get some puppy love once we get to Louisiana. I am sure we will come home with a ton of dog hair, but it will be ok. In a few weeks I will wish I had more! I have been trying to come up with a way to sneak Miss Bella (right) back to Alabama, but I do not think my mom would let us get very far before coming after this fur baby since she was our first. Mason (left), on the other hand, is too rowdy and energetic for our new furniture and having to live the apartment life.
Apparently, I have learned another lesson via social media. Obviously, clarification is crucial for those who read between the lines all too often. In response, I would like to set the record straight on the "Wedding Wednesday" post series. I was very apprehensive about sharing details, photos, and insider information from our wedding for many reasons before starting the posts. Then, I realized that the only way I knew what I wanted was from looking at other photos, reading articles, and carting around magazines like a lunatic. So, why not try to help another Bride if I can? I would have never made it without two former Brides advice, input, ideas, and support. I thought it would be beneficial to lend the support I was given to another Bride-to-be in hopes of helping another in the same way that two other ladies from home did for me.
I never intended to criticize another's wedding or planning scheme while referring to advice future Brides can consider or should not consider. Also, I never intended to "toot our horn" in reference to our wedding. Was our wedding the best ever in wedding history? Probably not. However, our wedding was perfectly imperfect and suited all of our desires. It was "us". We just wanted to be married, which is honestly all that should matter during the planning process. Planning a wedding is not like planning a show, as weddings are not productions. The only reason I refer so much to our wedding is because all the information shared in each post is based off of our experience from our wedding and the planning process we endured and embraced.
If you have a problem with a post, what is referenced in a post based on former weddings we attended, and the information included, please do not take the time to read. I am not blogging for web views, comments, followers, or page shares. The whole point behind my blog is to journal our life during this new chapter, what has happened in the past, and what we are learning in hopes of growing, maturing and moving forward (despite those who may not). If I can help another person through what is written in a post, then so be it. That is awesome and I have gone above my goal!
Yes, I make time for blogging in the same way that I make time for cooking, cleaning, studying, errands, spending time with my husband, and many other things that on my daily to-do list. I enjoy blogging and have been super blessed with many new opportunities and friends during the past 6 months. How awesome is it that I can do something that I love while also being paid here and there?
This is my little corner of the Internet. I am thankful in all respects for constructive criticism, negative feedback, and those who graciously follow along as I am grammatically incorrect on many occasions. If I have offended someone in any prior posts, I apologize. It was never my intentions. However, you simply do not have to follow this blog or any of my social media accounts. There are way too many nosey, jealous, immature people in this world already doing exactly that.
Until next time- Happy Blogging!
