As I come back to my little corner of the Internet that I have built and thoroughly enjoyed since July, I feel as though I am at a loss for words. In this very moment, the question on my mind is "What should I blog about today? What do all the faithful readers want to hear today?" So much has been going on in our little world. I think for today's post I will give a recap of the last few days.
We are expanding! How exciting? If you would like to read more on the blog expansions within the next few weeks, you can access the link by clicking HERE. I am so thankful for the platform the Lord has provided for me through this blog. If you did not know, the blog is now accessible through Facebook! CLICK HERE to access the Facebook page. First and foremost, I have to give credit to the Lord above for being the guide behind all that this blog encompasses. The most important thing in my life is my relationship with Jesus and I would not be able to write every day without sharing that. I also would hate not to not take every opportunity I can to share that in hopes for even one person to come to know Christ. While I may fail Him often, He is always faithful to me. I pray this blog continues to be a platform faithful to Him. I am so thankful for all that has come from having this blog and I cannot wait to see how the Lord plans to use Tony and I, our story, and our marriage in the future.
As many of you know, I took the first state requirement (ACETP) in order to start my check offs for Alabama student teaching last Saturday morning. I studied all last week and a little towards the end of Thanksgiving break. I think the first two tests out of the three went okay, but I feel as though I should have had more prep for the math portion. I should receive my scores at the end of December. Fingers crossed!
Before my test on Saturday morning, Tony Harper and I decided to do dinner and a movie out on Friday night in order to get my mind off the test and take a few minutes to chill out after his long week at work. We had dinner at Kobe and then saw the new movie, Flight. In all honesty, this movie was nothing like we thought it would be. We like Denzel Washington and figured it would be a good pick. We thought that it would be a really good, clean movie. It was not. It was full of everything evil you can possibly think of. Do not waste your money or time. Next time we plan to research the next movie we pay for instead of heading to the theater on impulse.
Finals started this week and will continue until next Wednesday. Thank the Lord I am finished with three classes as of today! I have two classes left to complete finals for and then I will be home free until the second week of January. I am extremely looking forward to attempting new baking recipes, dinner recipes, and Pinterest projects. It will be such a blessing to chill out at home and spend some quality time with my husband. We have already decided to do something each evening worth some sort of quality. It should be an exciting December!
Tuesday night we attended our very first Christmas dinner as a married couple! We had a wonderful time joining with members of IEEE from the area. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner and professional piano entertainment. I was finally able to meet a few people from Tony's office which was great, too. Although we were the minority in relation to age, it was an entertaining night.
All of the older couples had a wonderful time questioning us about "newlywed life" now days. There were door prizes given out and we were the only couple to put our name together on the card (Of course I would add us as "one"). Luckily, we won something at our very first party!
I cannot tell you how many times we told the story of finding our very first Christmas tree. Needless to say, we heard many stories from the older couples and their first few Christmas celebrations together. Each couple was absolutely precious in their own way! I pray the Lord blesses Tony and I with as many years of life, marriage, love, and wisdom together as the couples we met reflected within their relationships.
After my final on Wednesday I spent a little time running errands, working on a Pinterest project, and cooking up some dinner and a dessert until Tony Harper got home from work. Then, we cleaned the entire apartment from top to bottom, watched Green Mile, and enjoyed our little Christmas paradise (without cracking a single school book, might I add!).
If you are looking for a quick, inexpensive, beautiful project to complete in time for Christmas definitely check this one out! I bought a pack of the cinnamon pine cones at Walmart while picking up a few odds and ends. I have walked pasted these pine cones for two months and finally gave in to their desirable smell. I pulled out a hurricane vase from storage that we used on our "Sweets Treats" table at our reception and put the pack of pine cones inside. There were not enough pine cones in the pack to fill the vase so I went outside and grabbed a few extra from a pine tree near our building. Add a little white spray paint, a little silver glitter and you will have a little vase of winter wonderland pine cones. :)

I had a little fun on Instagram Tuesday and thought I would share today! How crazy different do we look in the photo below? It has only been one year. ONE YEAR! The photo on the left was taken at the Christmas dinner Tuesday night. The photo on the right was taken at a Christmas wedding last year.
Tony and I laughed at this set of photos for a while the other night! This time last year he had just had his wisdom teeth removed. He was a couple of pounds smaller and his hair looks lighter. At the time, I was 10 feet deep planning a wedding and trying to support my sister who was fighting an eating disorder. I was about 15 pounds smaller and obviously tanning for all the wedding hoopla photos.
While we look like two completely different people, we decided that there is no way we would ever go back in time- even if it meant being a bit smaller in size. :) The photo on the left is definitely "us" in every aspect. On another note, our mothers cannot deny us. Tony looks like his mother and I look like my mom.
I hope you all have a wonderful day! As always, until next time- Happy Blogging!
