Throughout the rest of the week and this past weekend I was totally out of commission, which was terrible. I hardly ever get sick, but when I do I am down for the count, friends. I had a ton of plans that I wanted to accomplish since it was my last free week of Christmas break, as it is often that I do not have free time during the semester. Obviously, my body needed the rest and rest is exactly what I did. I sat my booty on the couch, painted my nails, lost my voice, played on this here blog, meal planned, couponed, progressively and slowly cleaned our home from top to bottom, put away Christmas decorations, and prepared my binder subjects and books for class. (If you have not noticed yet, there is a NEW LOOK! and much more evolving in my little corner of the Internet.)
For today, I thought I would share a little bit of information from the blog world: As soon as I arrived home from the doctor I referred to another blogger, Louisiana Bride who recently posted a blog on her Favorite Home Remedies For Colds. I saw it on Pinterest and then jumped on over to her blog to skim the post. I was very tempted to try a few of her proposed remedies in hopes of building our immune systems back to par. I actually loved the idea of using Vick's vapor rub in our wax burner. It truly helps! Check out her post for more home remedy tips to keep those germs at bay!
Since early yesterday morning, I have been playing catch up since I did not get out and do any of my errands last week. I love to stay up to date on all the happenings in our area and thought it would be nice to share a few tid-bits with you all today. So, heads Up: Strep throat is big right now. However, there are multiple strands of the flu going around, which is even bigger in our area. I thought I was protected from the flu since I received a shot. Wrong. I am only protected from one particular strand.
If you have not already, prepare your cleaning stock pile, home, and children while you can! 'Tis the season for passing germs in the work force and classroom. Unfortunately, I think all this mess will be continuously passed around for the next few weeks. Since Wednesday, I have changed the sheets every single day, attempted to clean and wipe down the bathrooms, door knobs, and light switches, spray our bedroom and living room with Lysol, and do all that I can to keep the germs away.
Tony was feeling a bit under the weather, too and ended up at the doctor on Friday morning. Hopefully, after a shot and medicine he will be all cleared up sooner rather than later. As of now, I think we and our home are on the mend. Thankfully, we received a ton of wonderful restaurant gift cards over Christmas and have put many of them to great use during the last few days. There is only so much chicken noodle soup you can stand, if you know what I mean! Blah.
What products or home remedies do you use to protect your home, husband and children from illness?
Until next time- Happy Blogging!
